The Soul of
Pouilly-Fuissé

Being born into the Auvigue family is carrying the terroirs of Pouilly-Fuissé in one’s heart. Sylvain Brenas-Auvigue, great grandson of the founder of the Maison, has been wandering the vineyards around the villages of Pouilly and Fuissé for some time now.
In 2016, he took over Maison Auvigue. Above all, he loves the south Mâconnais and its vines. This shrine around the Roche de Solutré is where the vineyards, real organ of aromas, produce grapes that will give birth to remarkable wines. Sylvain knows each parcel by heart : he follows their evolution throughout the years and supports the transformation of their grapes. Whether it be his own 8 hectare parcel of Pouilly-Fuissé or those of his friends and wine-growing partners who collaborate with Maison Auvigue for quite some time now.

The vines have his undivided attention. Céline Hirsh, who joined the adventure in 2018, oversees the vineyard and the winery. With Sylvain, they are on the same wavelength: no concession and little compromise! This approach is also applied in the winery. They both believe each intervention must be justified and reduced to a bare minimum, whether it be for conventional or organic wines.
Scrambling the process is unthinkable, the wines must be free to reveal themselves.
The focus is on the barrels protecting the precious nectars, lending an ear throughout the evolution of the wine…

Pouilly-Fuissé is a mystery on a human scale. It ties the past to the present, the silence of memory to a passionate "joie de vivre".

No need for long speeches in your glass: each Climat tells its own story without quivering. Whites are a communion of freshness and minerality but also complete bewilderment: complex and subtle, carrying you far away and bringing you back feet grounded on earth.
No routine, no ritual: Maison Auvigue signs a unique story for each Climat, a specific vinification for each terroir and an asserted identity for each bottle.
